I hope to generate some good discussions here and facilitate peer review of poetry, the sharing of ideas (and information and events, etc.), and networking.

I am starting us out with two posts, one for feedback on Out of Our, and another for peer review of poetry. If you have an idea for another topic please let me know. And if you are interesting in moderating any topics that’d be great too!

Peer Review for Poetry

Post poems here for others to review, or provide feedback to others on their posted poems. If you are posting a poem and you have specific things you have questions about, please feel free to indicate that.

Reviewers, please use principles of constructive criticism. For example, you might follow this method, but do not feel obligated to:

1. Read the poem aloud to yourself twice.

2. How would you express the meaning of this poem in one sentence?

3. Indicate any sound devices you notice (rhyme, alliteration, assonance).

4. If any words seem out of place or interrupt the poem’s flow, indicate that.

5. Write or prepare comments, making a sandwich of your review:

Top layer: One compliment
Middle: One piece of constructive criticism/question that you have about the piece
Bottom: One more compliment
